Stay Font: A Designer’s Review for Campaign Graphics and Brand Visuals
Choosing the Right Typeface for a Product Launch Campaign
I recently worked on a soft launch campaign for a wellness brand’s new line of organic supplements. The visuals needed to feel clean, modern, and approachable. I was testing a few premium fonts for the hero banner and email header when I came across Stay. It immediately stood out with its balanced curves and subtle warmth. As a script amp font, it’s not overly dramatic like many decorative typefaces, which made it ideal for a brand that wanted to feel elevated but not elitist.
Visual Style and Design Personality
Stay has a quiet confidence. It’s a script font that leans into minimalism—clean strokes, soft transitions, and just enough flair to feel intentional. It’s not a handwriting font, but it carries a human touch that makes it perfect for lifestyle brands, boutique shops, and creative entrepreneurs. The lowercase letters flow smoothly, and the uppercase characters are elegant without being fussy.
What makes Stay unique is how it balances modernity with a timeless feel. It doesn’t scream “trendy” like some display fonts. Instead, it blends into the background of your design while still contributing to the overall tone. That makes it great for brand consistency across multiple touchpoints—whether it’s a YouTube thumbnail or a Pinterest pin.
Real-World Use: Instagram, YouTube, and Email Campaigns
For the supplement brand, I used Stay in a few key places:
- In the Instagram carousel headlines—especially on quote graphics and product highlights.
- As the main header font in the email campaign announcing the launch.
- On a YouTube thumbnail for a short-form teaser video.
In each case, the font held up well on small screens and maintained readability even when overlaid on light or busy backgrounds. I paired it with a simple sans serif like Montserrat or Open Sans for body text and supporting copy, which helped create a nice visual hierarchy without overwhelming the viewer.
Readability and Digital Visibility
One thing I always test when using a script font like Stay is how it performs on mobile. Script fonts can sometimes get lost in fast-scrolling feeds or become illegible on smaller thumbnails. I found that Stay works best in short headlines—think 3–5 words max. It’s not ideal for long paragraphs or detailed captions, but that’s expected with most display fonts.
For dark backgrounds, I used a slightly bolder weight to ensure contrast. On light backgrounds, especially with a soft pastel image underneath, I added a subtle drop shadow to help the text pop. These small tweaks made a big difference in readability across platforms like Instagram Stories and Reels covers.
When Stay Might Not Be the Best Fit
While Stay is versatile, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. I wouldn’t recommend it for:
- Long-form editorial content or blog headers with dense copy.
- Corporate reports or formal brand communication where a more traditional serif or sans serif would be appropriate.
- Small body text or subheadings under 14px, especially in email footers or caption text.
If your campaign includes a lot of detailed information or needs to maintain a more formal tone, consider using Stay only for display text and decorative titles. It shines brightest when used sparingly and with intention.
Font Pairing and Design Compatibility
One of the best things about Stay is how well it pairs with other typefaces. Here are a few combinations I tested:
- With a clean sans serif – Great for landing pages and digital ads where clarity and contrast matter.
- With a serif font – Works well in editorial-style layouts or packaging design where a more classic feel is needed.
- With another script font – Use sparingly, but it can create a cohesive brand look in logo design or branded templates.
I especially liked pairing it with Roboto for a modern, minimalist look or Playfair Display for a more luxurious feel. The key is to keep the supporting fonts neutral so that Stay remains the visual anchor.
Technical Notes and Licensing Considerations
Before using Stay in client work or digital products, I always double-check the licensing. Make sure it includes commercial use rights, especially if you’re building branded templates, ad sets, or downloadable assets. I also recommend checking the font package for:
- Alternate characters and ligatures for customization.
- Multiple weights (light, regular, bold) for flexibility.
- Web font formats like WOFF or WOFF2 for website use.
- Multilingual support if your campaign targets international audiences.
These details can make a big difference in how smoothly the font integrates into your design workflow and how polished the final visuals look across platforms.
